Mouse not detected

Mouse cursor does not move or the mouse is not detected.

Cursor is frozen, mouse LED is off, or Windows does not recognize the device.

Reconnect the mouse, swap the USB receiver port, and update the driver if needed.

1. 1Unplug and reconnect a wired mouse, or replace batteries on a wireless mouse.
2. 2Move the USB receiver to a different USB port, preferably directly on the laptop rather than through a hub.
3. 3Open Device Manager and check for issues under Mice and other pointing devices.
4. 4Restart the laptop.
5. 5Try a spare mouse to determine whether the fault is with the mouse or the laptop.
