Keyboard not working

Keyboard is unresponsive or typing incorrect characters.

Some or all keys do not respond, keys repeat, or the wrong characters appear.

Reconnect the keyboard, check drivers, and confirm the correct input language is selected.

1. 1Unplug and reconnect a USB keyboard, or turn a wireless keyboard off and on.
2. 2Replace the batteries in a wireless keyboard.
3. 3Check Settings > Time & Language > Language to confirm the correct keyboard layout.
4. 4Open Device Manager and check for a warning icon under Keyboards; update or reinstall the driver.
5. 5Test the keyboard on another PC to confirm whether it is a hardware fault.
