Laptop not charging

Laptop battery is not charging when plugged in.

Battery icon shows "Not charging", battery percentage drops even while plugged in, or charger LED is off.

Verify the power adapter, cable and outlet, then reset the battery/charging circuit.

1. 1Check that the charger is fully seated in both the wall outlet and the laptop.
2. 2Try a different outlet or power strip to rule out a dead outlet.
3. 3Inspect the charging cable and adapter for visible damage.
4. 4Unplug the charger, hold the power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect the charger.
5. 5If using a docking station, connect the charger directly to the laptop to isolate the fault.
6. 6Contact IT to arrange a replacement adapter if the issue persists.
