Problem
An email contains an attachment that looks suspicious.
Symptoms
Unexpected attachment, unusual file type (.exe, .zip, .js), or an attachment from an unknown sender.
Solution
Do not open the attachment. Report it to IT Security for review.
Step-by-step instructions
- 1Do not open, download, or run the attachment.
- 2Check the sender address and whether the email was expected.
- 3Use the "Report Phishing" button in Outlook, or forward the email to IT Security.
- 4Delete the email once reported.
- 5If you already opened the attachment, disconnect from the network and contact IT immediately.
