SharePoint access denied

"Access Denied" message when opening a SharePoint site or file.

Error page stating you need permission, or a link that used to work now fails.

Confirm your account has access and request permission from the site owner if needed.

1. 1Confirm you are signed in with your work account, not a personal Microsoft account.
2. 2Check the URL is correct and the site has not been renamed or moved.
3. 3Click Request Access on the Access Denied page if the option appears.
4. 4Ask the document/site owner to confirm your account has been granted access.
5. 5Clear the browser cache or try an InPrivate/Incognito window in case of a stale session.
6. 6Contact IT if you believe you should already have access.
