Outlook not opening

Outlook does not open, freezes on launch, or closes immediately.

Outlook splash screen hangs, application closes without error, or "Outlook is trying to start" spinner does not go away.

Restart Outlook in safe mode and repair the profile if it still fails.

1. 1Close Outlook completely, including any process still running in Task Manager.
2. 2Hold Windows key + R, type outlook /safe and press Enter to start Outlook in safe mode.
3. 3If safe mode works, disable add-ins under File > Options > Add-ins.
4. 4Run Control Panel > Mail > Repair on your Outlook profile.
5. 5Restart the computer.
6. 6Contact IT if Outlook still will not open after a repair.
