Problem
I forgot my account password and I'm locked out of my computer or Microsoft 365 account.
Symptoms
You cannot sign in to Windows, Outlook, Teams, or other company systems because you forgot your password, and you have no way to reset it yourself.
Solution
Try self-service password reset first if it's available to you; otherwise submit a request to IT so they can verify your identity and reset it for you.
Step-by-step instructions
- 1If you have a phone or personal device, try Self-Service Password Reset at aka.ms/sspr, if it has been set up for your account.
- 2If self-service reset isn't available or doesn't work, submit a request to IT via the Request IT Help form, including your name and department.
- 3If you cannot access the Request IT Help form because you're fully locked out, contact IT directly by phone.
- 4IT will verify your identity (for example, by phone or with manager confirmation) before resetting your password.
- 5Once IT resets your password, sign in with the temporary password provided and set a new password when prompted.
